The Successes and Challenges of the Peoria/Friedrichshafen Sister City Relationship from the German Perspective

You have polka’d and imbibed at October Fest on the Riverfront. You have been to the Lindenhof. You have joined numerous events at Hickory Grove. But have you considered the breadth and depth of relations between us in Central Illinois and our heritage in Germany? A delegation from Friedrichshafen, Peoria's Sister City in Germany, is in Peoria to meet with Mayor Ali and other local dignitaries this week. They have agreed to host a special meeting with PAWAC via Zoom on Tuesday, June 7. They will make a brief presentation about the Sister City relationship between Friedrichshafen and Peoria, and answer questions from PAWAC members. For Q&A, we will include Dee Walker, President of the Friends of Friedrichshafen, the local group that supports this Sister City relationship.

The Sister City concept was first initiated by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956 as a new approach to secure peace around the world through the development of personal relationships between people of various nationalities.  Please plan to attend this special PAWAC meeting and learn about the success of the Sister City program between Peoria and Friedrichshafen, Germany. This event is free, and you are encouraged to share the registration link with your friends! Register here to join the Zoom meeting.
