The mission of the Peoria Area World Affairs Council is to bring the world to Central Illinois.
The Peoria Area World Affairs Council develops programs that bring national and international experts to the Peoria-area to discuss global issues and how they affect us locally. PAWAC targets diverse, multi-generational audiences for educational oppurtunities, learning initiatives and face-to-face dialogue with our distinguished speakers. PAWAC aims to enable our communities to better compete, collaborate, and make informed decisions.
In addition to speakers and public discussion forums, the Peoria Area World Affairs Council offers guided travel opportunities, book club meetings and film screenings, all designed to engage the public on a range of critical issues. These include national security, foreign policy challenges, international trade, global health, energy, the environment, immigration, human rights, education, and culture.
Through expanded, informed, respectful public discourse about international relations and current events, we can transform how people think about the world and encourage them to act accordingly.
