Congratulations to Jenny Norman - East Peoria Community High School on being named the Tom Durbin Class 2A Coach of the Year by the Illinois High School Scholastic Bowl Coaches Association!
East Peoria scholastic bowl has had a banner year. The team kicked off their season by winning the 23rd Annual PAWAC International Scholastic Bowl before embarking on a fantastic season including seeing runnersup finishes at the Mid-Illini Conference Tournament & Peoria Area League respectively. The team went on to win their first IHSA Regional title since 2014 (led by then PAWAC All Tournament Team alum, Ben Bruce). The IHSA Regional championship was in fact a rematch of the PAWAC semifinal with East Peoria facing Metamora. East Peoria most recently wrapped up their season at the WACA Academic WorldQuest on April 20th finishing in 24th place with a score of 59.
Jenny was recognized as Coach of the Year in part due to her team's historic season, as well as her leadership in the greater scholastic bowl community including the Peoria Area [Scholastic Bowl] League (PAL).
Jenny was also named Latin Teacher of the Year by the Illinois Classical Conference in Fall 2023.
