About Our Organization:
The Peoria Area World Affairs Council (PAWAC) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization open to all individuals. Since the first annual conference in 1969, PAWAC has promoted a better understanding of world affairs among the people of Central Illinois by sponsoring public programs and fostering a cooperative educational approach to world problems.

PAWAC is affiliated with the World Affairs Councils of America and the Foreign Policy Association. PAWAC meets the first Thursday of each month for a business meeting followed by dinner and an open discussion.

Each fall, PAWAC hosts the International Affairs Scholastic Bowl in Peoria, sponsored by CEFCU, and in collaboration with the Peoria Journal Star.  This annual event invites twenty-four high school teams from throughout the region and has become one of our most effective efforts for educational outreach.

Sponsoring institutions include Bradley University, Eureka College, Illinois Central College, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

High school teachers:  Missed a program hosted by PAWAC?  Please contact PAWAC for free DVD recordings of all programs hosted by the Peoria Area World Affairs Council.  Through a grant from the Community Foundation of Central Illinois, any high school teacher may receive recordings of any of the programs and speakers hosted since March 2009.  Call PAWAC at (309) 677-2454 or e-mail at pawac@bradley.edu.
